Why LifeVault exists.
LifeVault was born from years of caregiving, medical stress, and the overwhelming reality of trying to keep important information organized during difficult moments.
While completing my degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Houston, I became a caregiver for my father as he battled Alzheimer’s disease. As his memory declined, he insisted on returning home to the Philippines despite my concerns.
During a medical crisis overseas, I flew to the Philippines and discovered that my father’s identification cards, records, and important documents were no longer in his possession. As his Alzheimer’s progressed, he was no longer able to manage or account for them himself.
Trying to coordinate care, replace records, work with government agencies, and arrange travel during an already stressful situation reinforced an important lesson:
When someone can no longer manage their own information, that responsibility falls to the people who love them.
I learned that copies of important records aren’t just convenient. They’re essential when families need to prove identity, coordinate care, replace lost documents, respond to emergencies, or make critical decisions on behalf of a loved one. That experience showed me how quickly important information can become inaccessible when it’s needed most.
Years later, I became the primary caregiver for my mother during the final years of her life after multiple falls and spinal fractures left her needing extensive support.
Like many caregivers, I found myself managing medications, specialists, insurance information, medical records, home health contacts, paperwork, and an endless stream of phone calls. One of the greatest challenges was keeping track of how her treatments changed over time and understanding which medications were still necessary as her health evolved.
At the same time, I experienced how difficult it can be to share important information with others who are helping provide care. Medical history, preferences, support needs, emergency contacts, and countless other details often lived in different places and were difficult to access when they were needed most.
Those experiences stayed with me for years.
LifeVault was built to help families feel more organized, prepared, and supported during life’s most stressful moments — whether caring for aging parents, raising children, managing medical needs, preparing for emergencies, caring for pets, or simply trying to keep a household running smoothly.
LifeVault is the tool I wish I’d had while caring for my parents. My hope is that it helps other families feel more prepared, organized, and supported when they need it most.
